H.M.C Auxiliary gift shop, The Ivy Corner, is operated by our faithful volunteers Monday through Friday from 8:00 A.M. to 7:00 P.M. and on Saturday from 9:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M.

Volunteer Services coordinates the training and orientation of all H.M.C. Auxiliary volunteers. We welcome you to join our distinguished group simply by giving us a call at (618) 253-7671 ext. 216.
Donated Meal Program
Meals are provided to local churches, soup kitchens, patients who have been discharged from HMC who need assistance, members of the community, HMC staff in need, and HMC staff no longer here due to medical reasons.
Mary Smith, Director of Nutrition Services, contacted the Illinois Department of Public Health and found that HMC could donate leftover food from our dining room, as governed by the "Good Samaritan Act". Policies and procedures were written to allow any HMC partner to make a referral to the Nutrition Department Management staff. An approval form for receiving donated meals is completed and kept on file.
The supply of donated meals is based on how many leftovers are available. All those who pick up meals are asked to call the kitchen before pickup to determine if meals are available. For information call 618-253-7671, Ext. 135.
Gifts are donated by HMC Staff to provide a brighter Christmas for children in the community who would have little or no presents.
Partners visit patients who have little to no visitors, who just need cheering up, or are having a birthday, are given a small gift of flowers, cards, balloons, or trinkets and a smile. This is a rewarding experience according to those participating. Staff have cried, prayed and laughed with patients.
Tickets are provided to those in need upon referral by HMC staff.

Thanksgiving Meal Delivery to Area "Shut-Ins"
Harrisburg Medical Center partners with Golden Circle and Egyptian Area Agency on Aging, provide meals to area "shut-ins" on Thanksgiving Day. HMC dietary staff prepares the meals and volunteers from various departments in the hospital deliver them to "shut-ins" in our area
HMC Staff are provided aid throughout the year when they have been off work and are out of benefits or in other emergencies. Community families are assisted during the year in case of emergencies.
