Laboratory services are available for inpatient and outpatients per your physician's order. Automated instrumentation allows for rapid testing and reporting, thus assisting your physician with diagnosis and treatment of your illness. Our lab provides comprehensive testing in the following areas: Chemistry, Hematology, Serology, Urinalysis, Microbiology, Coagulation, and Blood Banking.
HMC laboratory provides services to several local nursing home and physician office clinics. Drug screening and breath alcohol testing is available for individual accounts. We also provide wellness testing for local business accounts.

Please report to the registration department in the Main Lobby before coming to the laboratory.
Note to the patient:

Your physician has ordered a test to be done by the laboratory which may require blood to be drawn from your vein or artery. Testing may also be performed on the following specimens:

  • nasal drainage (sputum)
  • urine (random or 24 hour specimen)
  • stool
  • wound culture
  • other body fluids

Information needed for registration:

1. Order from your physician for your labwork which includes the diagnosis for the 
    testing
2. Your insurance or medical card
3. Information you will be asked:

  • Date of Birth
  • Social Security Number
  • Employment Information
  • Spouse Information
  • Next of kin outside of home

    For Inpatient testing a representative from the lab will come to your room to obtain the specimen.

    Arterial Blood Gas (ABG) analysis

This is the process of analyzing the blood that is flowing through the arteries. It is used to determine what the patient's blood pH is, how much oxygen is being used by the body and how much carbon dioxide is found in the blood stream. This gives the physician information that can be used to prescribe medications to increase the volume of of oxygen the body can use.
